Cale is 11 years old and, in the tradition of the town of Samarado, Tony the Dragon Master will choose a dragon for him and give him a task to perform: Cale must bring his dragon back to the castle before the moon reaches its highest point in the sky.
Cale had dreamed of having a magnificent flying dragon, but Mondrago is not exactly what he’d hoped for: he’s fairly big, can’t fly, stumbles constantly, is easily distracted, and only wants to play. With a dragon like this, Cale is never going to pass the test and return to his castle in time.
Fortunately, Cale’sfriends come to his aid, but on the way they must confront the diabolical Murda and the cruel dragons of his father, the mysterious Mayor Wickenburg.
Will they come through this journey alive and make it back to Cale’s castle in time? And just what is the secret of the mysterious book that Mondrago took from the Mayor’s castle?
